  • Which Xangans would you like to meet?

It occurred to me that I have only met two Xangans in person - one I knew before Xanga, one I met after Xanga: @Tyche (whom I met online in another community) and @nevragn - who I met here when I had my "NotMarthaStewart" blog when I was doing a "clean sweep" of my house.  We've met up for dinner a few times when I've had to drive past her town, and consider her to be a good friend

Some Xangans I would like to meet are:

@ToastedNuts - because I've known her since before Xanga, and she allowed me to use her employee discount to buy my Mustang in 2002

@DMO224 - who seems to have disappeared

    @Gneiss_Guy - just because he's a nice guy

@Megabyyte - because she is so pure of heart and just an all around nice person.

@AmyinVA - we've been online friends for so long and have exchanged Christmas cards - I feel like I already know her.

@maggie70 - because she's just so damn smart  And I'm talking about wisdom from living, not from a book.

@Dippity - because I love her 'no BS - take no prisoners' attitude!

There are others, but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Who would you like to meet?

  • I am so nosey I would love to meet everyone. Even the trolls. LOL I think deep down trolls are lonely people who have no real friends in real life. I know several people here in person on Xanga since what brought me here was my cousins. They have long gone but I want to meet all of my long time subscribers.

  • Meet in person ?? *chuckles* Oman, where do I begin ! I don't think there's too many Xangans living in Fort Worth tho.

  • Hi SherylM. I would love to meet you as well. It seems we've been friends and soul sisters forever. We really don't live all that far apart, maybe just a few hours drive away.

You will always be eligible to purchase another vehicle on my friends and neighbors plan. Your Mustang was very pretty. I remember how excited you were when you picked it up. I was so surprised to get a lovely planter as a thank you. You are the very first person to ever send a thank you gift for my employee discount. And I've only gotten one other thank you since that time. You are heads above the rest.

As I read down your list of folks you'd still like to meet up with in real life, I can't help but smile as 5 of them are on my subscriptions list and I would love to meet them as well.

I hope we never lose touch with one another.

    Your Toasie friend,

    Deb

  • awww, thanks! you are a great person, too! And since we live in the same state, it'd probably be easier to meet one of these days! :)

  • Aww shucks.  You're on my list, too :)    There are so many Xangans I'd love to meet ... I'm afraid I'd leave someone off if I started a list!

And @TNuts -  I've been wondering about you! If you're on Facebook please send me a message (here)  so we can re-connect..  I miss you!

  • Silly me. I left here without giving you a 'mini'.

  • I've been on here 8 years, but still haven't had the chance to meet anyone!. I have a handful of people who I'd love to see face to face!  :)

  • I'd rather not. In person, I would be rather disappointing. Wouldn't want to read it in their faces.

  • @Inciteful - Do you really think your Xanga friends are that shallow?  I think when people get a chance to know you by your written word, they already come without prejudice when they meet you in person.  At least, that's been my experience in meeting people.

  • @Ikwa - Maybe someone will have a Xanga get-together

  • @dw817 - You'd probably be surprised!  In my total online life (over 20 years) I have met hundreds of people.  Some local, some from far away.

  • @TNuts - Awwwww, thanks for the mini, Deb!  Hey, are you on Facebook?  If so, message me your username so I can friend you!

  • @Megabyyte - Maybe in Sept. when I'm down your way for the Diabetes walk.

  • @AmyinVA - Yeah, I was afraid of the same thing.  There have been so many who have come and gone, there are several from our days on MDD that I really miss.

  • @CuddlyKat - When you make a friend online, someone you can really connect with, it is really awesome meeting them in person.  At one time, 90% of my real life friends were people I first met online!

  • @SherylM - Really ? Wow ... It's been many years since I've been to any parties except for MENSA. Might be a refreshing change.

  • @dw817 - Ha!  I dropped my MENSA membership after attending one of their parties!

  • @SherylM - Meh - I probably don't know where to party these days.

  • @SherylM - no, I'm not on Facebook. I've avoided it on purpose. There are just too many people on there that I hope will never find me. That's why I love Xanga and our previous home, MDD. Nobody in my real life, except for Bobby, knows about my online journaling.

Sheryl, if Xanga really does go away we have to find another diary type site to migrate to. I miss keeping a diary. And most of all I miss the remarkable people I've met, like you!
    Big (((HUGS)))

  • hello dear how are you?

  • I have never met any Xangans.

I am also afraid of missing people of my list.    I am hoping to visit as many as possible.   I have also blogged about the countries I would like to visit.

  • @dohertywilliams - Since you just opened your Xanga site, I'm assuming I must know you under another name?

  • @my_final_username - There are those who are optimistic that Xanga can be saved.  They did very well at the start of their fundraising push, but it seems to have died down.  Hopefully we can all get contact info of our closest friends here on Xanga, just in case.

  • I've met 3 from Xanga and would love to meet most of my subscription list.  I can't believe we are going to lose track of each other.  Toasted and I have exchanged Christmas cards for years!! Marilyn

  • Ha ha thank you! That's me, in your face and real!

  • @maggie70 - It is a shame.  I bought a lifetime membership back when I first joined Xanga.  I don't think I'll pay to blog, when it's not something I do often.  So when this site closes down, I'll be elsewhere.

  • @Dippity - Did you ever see the show "In Plain Sight"?  It lasted 4 seasons - the main character (Mary) is how I picture you being lol

  • @SherylM - Have never seen that show but I just watched some of the main character's best lines and laughed out loud. Thanks again!

  • I love @Dippity's realness too and I think @TNuts is a sweetheart, good choices,I would enjoy meeting them as well.

  • @seedsower - facepalm!  You are also one I would love to meet, as well as @saintvi
