  • Bell Bottom Jeans, hell yeah

On Lovelyish today the post is about "ugh, bell bottom jeans coming back."

Personally, I like them.  I have no hips and a big belly.  They help balance out my frame.

And those with larger hips and no bellies, they balance them out, too.

And those with great curves - they accentuate the positive.

Straight legs and leggings always make anyone who is not a size 2 supermodel look like a bulging jellyfish.

Bellbottoms - pair them with heels and they look even better.

    Bellbottoms.  Hell yeah.

  • Hukd on foniks?

From one of today's top blogs:

"Haii. It's now officially February 7th. It's maii birfday today. I turn 21."

    Haii?  maii? birfday?

Is it really cool to write like you have less than a 1st grade education when you are 21?

    I would add:

Seriously? but I hate that as much as I hate "I know, right?"  LOL

  • New year, new life.

New year, new life. I start my new year with a new husband. I just got back from a 2-week honeymoon that included an 11-day cruise in the south Caribbean. We had 5 full days at sea, which I absolutely LOVED! The sway of the water was so soothing that I slept a LOT the first two days. I think I was regressing to being in the womb or something LOL But it was like being rocked to sleep. We had some rough days at sea and those were the best. I'm glad I don't get seasick!

We went to Aruba; Cartegena, Colombia; Colón, Panama; Puerto Limón, Costa Rica; and Grand Caymen Island. Most of the stops (actually, all) were just shore shopping excursions but we did take a tour in Cartegena that included the Fort of San Filipe that was used in the movie Jewel of the Nile.

Grand Caymen had the best weather, and we enjoyed just walking around the island.

The biggest problem was my cold. It started the day we left and continued throughout. I am still taking meds for it and it's driving me nuts.

I still need to get everything changed over - I've decided to change my name. I didn't take back my maiden name when Mac and I got divorced because I didn't feel like changing everything. But now that I'm remarried, I don't want to keep Mac's name.

So now that I'm back, I joined WeightWatchers today after seeing some of the wedding pictures - I had NO IDEA I was so HUGE. I added up my points from what I ate today and as it turns out, I have eaten exactly 29 points (my starting amount). I haven't had dinner, but I ate breakfast/lunch really late and had a late afternoon snack. So dinner will be just a salad and I'll use some of my extra points to cover the dressing.

I like the calculator. I like that the program encourages high protein and high fiber. I have to watch my carbs, and the foods that are free for me on the diabetic diet (mostly non-starchy vegetables) are also free in WW. I just have to watch the fruits. I'm going to add them into my calculator and not consider them as free foods. Otherwise I may find myself eating 5 bananas a day and skimping on other, lower carb, lower calorie foods. And Roger, my dear, new husband, just made me a nice salad for dinner. I think I'll keep him

    Here are some wedding photos.

The wedding party.  Flower girl and ring bearer are my step-daughters two youngest.  I guess that would make them my grandchildren, but they call me "Aunt Sheri"  Best Man and Matron of Honor were David and Sheri - I posted a blog about Sheri a while back. (Under my Kallioph account)

  • Ring out the old, bring in the new

This will probably be my last post of the year.

Last night we went to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It's my fourth time seeing them. They put on a great show. It's definitely oriented toward adults - i.e. no mosh pits, the people on the floor stay seated (nobody yelling "down in front!"). Such a refreshing change from other rock concerts I've been to. (With the exception of Eric Clapton - again, an adult concert for adults, no mosh pit, everyone acting adult.) I took about 100 pictures. I'll be looking at them today to see how many came out.

Tonight we are going to go hear a friend's band play. Tickets were only $10. Pretty cheap for New Years Eve. Then again, this place is a hole in the wall dive. That won't stop me from dressing up, though!

Tomorrow I'll be spending the day getting the house ready for Sunday. (A few family and close friends volunteered to help.) Then Sunday is the wedding!! A friend who is a photographer gave me a great deal (he charges $750 for weddings and said he'd do mine for $100 - I paid him $150). Someone I went to school with is going to do the music for me (no charge) The only thing I couldn't find among my friends was someone to officiate. I found someone who will come to the house. I 'respectfully requested' adults only, but I want my stepdaughter's kids there, so I am having her 7-year-old as the flower girl and her 9-year-old as the ring bearer. We bought her daughter a dress from David's Bridal that is the same fabric as mine. They had the same style, but not in the same color. That would have been great.

Then we're off on an 11-day cruise in the southern Caribbean. We'll be stopping in Oranjestad, Aruba; Cartagena, Colombia; Colon, Panama; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; George Town, Grand Cayman. We leave from Ft. Lauderdale. Our stateroom has a balcony. I hope I don't get seasick! We'll have four full days at sea during the trip. When we finish, we're going to spend the weekend with friends in Miami.

When we get back, I'll be looking into joining Weight Watchers. My weight soared over the last year. I'd like to blame it on the stress with so much happening (divorce, sister's death, meeting back up with my childhood sweetheart, moving to another state, change in medications) but I know my eating habits were the biggest contributing factor (and lack of exercise!) With a new life ahead of me, I want it to be long and healthy.

Happy New Year to all my Xanga friends

  • Two accounts...now what?

This is my original Xanga account.  I moved here from MDD for reasons I can't even remember.  I think it was a fear of copyright issues or something.  Whatever.

I purchased a lifetime account here expecting that I would always want a blog - and I like that this can be public, protected or private. (Though I've only written about 3 private blogs in all that time - mostly because it was just too personal to share and I needed to get it out of my system.  I used to keep a paper diary for that reason.)

So, one day, inspired by "Clean Sweep" I decided to start a photo journal of my desire to clean the clutter out of my house, and started my NotMarthaStewart blog.  I ended up buying a lifetime account for that one, too. (Don't ask why - at this point, if I had a reason I don't remember.)

Then Xanga gave us the opportunity to change our blog names.  I decided I was done with the "Clean Sweep" blog and was going through some tough times.  I needed a public blog and a private (protected) blog.  So I searched for a name that would equate to "Singer" because I love to sing.  I found the Greek Goddess of poetry, Calliope, whose name meant "Beautiful Voice" and who taught her daughter to sing.  Unfortuantely Calliope was already taken here, so I looked for variations on the spelling and ended up with Kallioph - the only one that wasn't taken. (And, as it turned out, Calliope was the Latin spelling, and Kallio'ph was the Greek spelling.)

So for about two years, I've kept two blogs.  Kallioph was my public blog, and SherylM was my protected blog.  Now I feel like my life has turned around, is heading in a good direction, and I don't need two blogs.

So for the time being, I'm going to post all of my blogs here, in SherylM, and save Kallioph - for what I don't know.  Maybe for a time in the future when I'll need two blogs again.

  • Interview Follow-up

My interview today was at an offsite location because the whole thing is very confidential.  Evidently, the database manager at AMC is very good with the database, but has very poor people skills.  The person in this position needs to be able to interact well with clients in order to train and work with them.  It just so happens that, besides my expertise in this particular database management program, I love to do training.

Anyway, I think the interview went well.  I interviewed with the CFO at the company, who is the person who heads up the Finance/Accounting and I.T. departments.  I was warned that he was a non-emotional person and that is an understatement.  I couldn't read him AT ALL.  He *almost* cracked a smile when he was telling me what a great company AMC was to work for and how much he loved his job.

Since we are communicating through a recruiter (because of the confidentiality) I sent a thank you note to the recruiter and asked him to forward it on.

This interview came at a great time because I am so ticked off at the people I work with right now that I could spit nails.

The one bad thing that happened during the interview:

I forgot to turn off my cell phone.  And it's turned up pretty loud so I can hear it when it's in my purse.

One day, just for grins, I started assigning songs to particular people.  For example:

    • When Mac calls from his cell, it plays Beethoven's 9th Symphony
    • When he calls from home, it plays Barber's Adagio for Strings
    • When he calls from work, it plays Beethoven's Air on a G string
    • When my boss calls, it plays Johnny Paycheck singing "Take This Job and Shove it."

Guess who called during my interview?

  • MDD R.I.P.

Wow, I heard MDD was down for good.  I hope some of my old friends from there show up here.  Like White Light, Number9, Solo...
