The temps are in the 70s during the day, low 60s at night, I can keep my windows open, the house is naturally cool (as opposed to air conditioned), the lawn is lush and green, and for some reason it reminds me of my childhood.

Going under
I have an endoscopy (upper) scheduled for tomorrow (Monday). I have a hiatal hernia and my doctor wants to make sure that's all I have going on because I often wake up with heartburn even though I am on Prevacid and have been taking it for about ten years. I thought I was going for an upper G.I. (you know, where you have to drink barium) but nope. Going to be under general anesthesia while they look with a scope.

Still having shoulder problems
My freaking shoulder has bothered me for almost two years now. It was starting to get better and now it is back to bothering me when I try to sleep. I take two Aleve before bed, but they are not strong enough, evidently. Maybe I need to ask my Dr. for an MRI on it.

Taking guitar class
Since I got my degree in 2007 I have only taken one class. A guitar class. I was thoroughly disappointed in it because it wasn't what I expected. I thought I'd be taught to play actual sheet music. Instead they taught us chords and strumming patterns and some tabulation. That is okay, I guess, if you want to be a rock guitarist. I just want to play melodies on the guitar.
My sister Debbie is going back to school and needed 2 credits to fill out her schedule for her Pell grant. I talked her into taking a guitar class, and that I'd take it with her. I have a Washburn acoustic guitar that is a good student guitar (I think original price was around $400) but wanted a Classical guitar for this class. I used to have one but traded it to my sister Melanie many years ago for $50. I told her when I could pay her back, I would get my guitar back. She moved so much that somehow it got lost in the moves. Didn't really matter, because I never asked for it back.
So today Roger and I went to a music store and bought a nice-sounding classical guitar. Now to just clip my nails so I can play it!

Sports guru? You decide
We're going to the October 11 Monday night football game. First home game and it's televised nationally. Taking my sister. She posted that she is all excited about it on facebook. My reply:
Yeah!!! Me too!!! I just LOVE the Lions! Basketball is my FAVORITE sport!!!! Woo Hoo!!! Hopefully they'll win the Stanley Cup this year!
She posted "LMAO" Evidently she doesn't think they stand a chance.

Probably not...
I've had the whole day to think about it, and it is likely I will not accept an offer from this company if they were to make one.
- I work from home now so I can sleep until the crack of nine
- I can work in my pajamas
- I don't have to worry if I have a bad hair day
- I have a great salary that I really doubt this other company will match
- I do get to drive to Chicago occasionally - it never feels like a chore because I love the drive (except for the last 5 miles)
- Although the office hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm I can pretty much work my own schedule (e.g. when I go in to the office, I'm usually there by 7am and out by 3.)
- When I do have to go to Chicago for a staff meeting, they've scheduled them for noon so I can drive in and home in the same day - no need to stay overnight in a hotel or with my ex.
The only PRO to accepting this job will be that it's local. The job is database administration and programming. And while I don't mind programming, I don't want to do it as part of my job, and the main part of it would be programming. I don't mind writing SQL scripts, views, etc to get data out of a database, but I don't want to write automation scripts for the web site (among other things.)
I do believe I've made up my mind

Job interview!
Although I like the job I now have, and it pays me VERY WELL and I can work from home 99% of the time, I still have to commute to Chicago occasionally and I'm getting tired of it. I bought my car less than two years ago and already have 40,000 miles on it.
I updated my resume on Monster.com a couple days ago and have been getting mostly recruiter calls. Today a local business called me and talked to me about a position they had open for a programmer and database administrator. I passed the first interview (HR/phone) and will be meeting with the HR person and the Director of I.T. tomorrow at 1:30 pm.
I have mixed feelings. I love working from home but lack the self-discipline to actually put in the amount of hours I'm 'clocking' on my time sheet. (I do not overstate billable hours, just non-billable to pad my time out to 35-40 hours a week.)
This will be in the corporate office of a federal credit union. I'm wondering if my neighbor had anything to do with this (I don't remember sending them my resume.) All I know is that he heads up the department that includes I.T. in the corporate office of a local credit union.
I'll post my impressions tomorrow.

Healthy stuff
After the weekend, my refrigerator is jam-packed with healthy stuff. And one of my guests bought me a Ninja blender to make smoothies. I might try it tomorrow.
First day back to work today and nothing went right. I have to go back to Chicago next week for two days to train a client, and my copy of their software was hosed, so I am now downloading it through my work VPN. S.L.O.W.
Gotta get back to my World of Warcraft game. Priorities, you know.

Home Alone
Well, not really alone. But the last of my guests left this morning. Then I needed a three-hour nap. You can tell you've had a great time when after it's all over you need a nap. And now that I'm done here, I'm going to play some World of Warcraft
I found out that one of my guests is a hard-core player. She's got 10 or more level 85s. I have ONE and I've been playing a year longer than her! LOL

Gonna update more
I have had house guests all weekend - it's an annual gathering we have at different places and because none of us is rolling in money this year we decided to economize and have it at my house (not like I don't have the room!) It's been a great weekend but one of my guests said I don't update enough here and she comes in every day looking for the two people she subscribes to (the other one is someone all of my readers know and is one of my dearest friends. Unfortunately, she couldn't be here this weekend) So I will update at least once a week - I just don't think I can post something every day.
Today we went to Frankenmuth and stopped at Bronners and the Bavarian Inn for lunch. The food was delicious. I haven't been here in 40 years. While at Bronners, I saw some slippers for Roger that match the pajamas I got him for Christmas. We left there and went to Premium Outlets of Birch Run where I stopped in my favorite outlet store and both of these for less than the suggested retail price of the wallet:

Now we're just chillin'
