  • All systems normal

    Well, almost all!

Got test results back today.  My liver enzymes had been escalating, but my last test was SO MUCH BETTER!  (Amazing what a 25-pound weight loss can accomplish!)

    Liver Enzymes:

    • AST was 28 (normal is 10-35) down from 179
    • ALT was 45 (normal is 6-40) down from 202

My Triglycerides went down from 320 to 166 (still high)

Cholesterol went up slightly (including HDL which is a good thing), and is understandable as I was taken off the cholesterol medication because of my high liver enzymes.

Everything else is normal   Even my glucose.  My next A1c should be good, too

I don’t want to take any chances with my liver enzymes going back up though, so I’m going to still refrain from any alcoholic beverages whatsoever, as well as anything containing Acetaminophen (Tylenol).

  • Wow, those did drop! That’s good! Glad everything is normal!  And congrats on the 25 lbs! Gooo you!!

  • Holy Cow!  Way to go!  Those are huge drops in numbers.  I need to follow your lead and make it work for me.

  • Wow! Way to go! I’m suffering from elevated liver enzymes and high triglycerides myself…I know I need to lose weight, but it’s just so darn hard after a “certain age”. I feel encouraged by your results!

  • @LindaC61 - Are you diabetic?  I think getting back on Actos also helped.  My endocrinologist said that was the first line of defense for fatty liver (usually indicated by high enzymes) because it’s generally caused by insulin resistance which is what Actos fights.  I also began taking Victoza, which is how I was able to lose 25 pounds.  It’s hard to get used to and caused me to lose my appetite while my system was getting used to it.  My eating cut right in half during that time.  I’ve been maintaining my weight since then.  Haven’t lost any more.  Now I know it’s time for me to get off my butt and add in some exercise.  Working from home it’s just too easy to get in the habit of parking my butt in my computer chair and sitting here all day.
