So why AM I not a True Xangan?
Someone posted in a pulse about the race to become a True Xangan. They were shocked that I’ve been on Xanga almost 10 years and did not have the True badge.
I think it’s because although I am here every day, I’m more of a peeping tom/nosy neighbor than a social butterfly. I rarely update, and don’t post very many comments. I read a lot, but only comment if something really compels me to do so.
So I will probably be here another ten years and the only badge I’ll ever have is “Life”. And evidently, a “Lifer” is not necessarily a True Xangan.

I think it has something to do with how many comments you leave. Or some such nonsense.
Yeah I think they must count actual activity on the site, not just logins. I really need to go ahead and do the “life” thing. I’ve spent plenty of money on the annual premium subscription in the last 9 years, and it’s not like I plan on going anywhere…
I never understood the TRUE badge, actually. I went LIFE because I was wasting money paying every year and figured it made sense.
@nevragn - That could be. When I was tracking my ‘journey to true’ it kept coming back that I wasn’t commenting enough. So I decided I’d never get the ‘true’ badge because I’m not going to leave a comment just to leave one. I generally only comment when something really strikes me or hits very close to home.
@AmyinVA - Yes, do go life. Save yourself some money. This year it will be ten years since I did it. I can’t remember, I think it was something like $100 so it has cost me $10/year.
@Dippity - Agreed! I went life on my other account, too (Kallioph) and now don’t even use it. I keep it in case I ever need to take this one back to protected.
