Ring out the old, bring in the new
This will probably be my last post of the year.
Last night we went to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It’s my fourth time seeing them. They put on a great show. It’s definitely oriented toward adults – i.e. no mosh pits, the people on the floor stay seated (nobody yelling “down in front!”). Such a refreshing change from other rock concerts I’ve been to. (With the exception of Eric Clapton – again, an adult concert for adults, no mosh pit, everyone acting adult.) I took about 100 pictures. I’ll be looking at them today to see how many came out.
Tonight we are going to go hear a friend’s band play. Tickets were only $10. Pretty cheap for New Years Eve. Then again, this place is a hole in the wall dive. That won’t stop me from dressing up, though!
Tomorrow I’ll be spending the day getting the house ready for Sunday. (A few family and close friends volunteered to help.) Then Sunday is the wedding!! A friend who is a photographer gave me a great deal (he charges $750 for weddings and said he’d do mine for $100 – I paid him $150). Someone I went to school with is going to do the music for me (no charge) The only thing I couldn’t find among my friends was someone to officiate. I found someone who will come to the house. I ‘respectfully requested’ adults only, but I want my stepdaughter’s kids there, so I am having her 7-year-old as the flower girl and her 9-year-old as the ring bearer. We bought her daughter a dress from David’s Bridal that is the same fabric as mine. They had the same style, but not in the same color. That would have been great.
Then we’re off on an 11-day cruise in the southern Caribbean. We’ll be stopping in Oranjestad, Aruba; Cartagena, Colombia; Colon, Panama; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; George Town, Grand Cayman. We leave from Ft. Lauderdale. Our stateroom has a balcony. I hope I don’t get seasick! We’ll have four full days at sea during the trip. When we finish, we’re going to spend the weekend with friends in Miami.
When we get back, I’ll be looking into joining Weight Watchers. My weight soared over the last year. I’d like to blame it on the stress with so much happening (divorce, sister’s death, meeting back up with my childhood sweetheart, moving to another state, change in medications) but I know my eating habits were the biggest contributing factor (and lack of exercise!) With a new life ahead of me, I want it to be long and healthy.
Happy New Year to all my Xanga friends
