What is your favorite painting, and why do you love it?
My favorite is really a triptych. Claude Monet’s Water Lilies. I was able to view this at the Museum of Modern Art in New York a few years ago (August, 2001).
My second favorite is Van Gogh’s Starry Night:
I don’t know why I love these two paintings. I just do. I have reproductions of both.
I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

I would say “Elvis on Black Velvet”, or “Dogs playing Poker”.
It speaks to the whimsical of life… and how people should relax, and enjoy things that aren’t accept in life so easily.
Wishing you well, and a BIG flag as a curtain!
@ReverendDel - Good thing you didn’t go into interior design LOL!! I actually had a tapestry of the dogs playing poker back in the 70s. I have owned some paintings on black velvet, just not Elvis.
i saw the monet exhibit a couple years ago here in sf. i still remember that painting.
The Water Lilies is one of my favorite paintings as well!
I see that “smoke-free” widget up there. That’s a lot of money saved! Kudos!
@ModernBunny - Yeah, I just wish I could convince my siblings that they would be richer if they quit.
nice photos of the paintings. congrats on keeping up with xanga. i seem to have lost my xanga mojo.
@snowpeanut - I know what you mean. I had another xanga account that I originally used to document my decluttering of my home and like an idjit paid for lifetime premium. I heard about National Blog Posting Month (nablopomo.com) where you blog every day for a month. I thought I would try it with that account and it made me really stop and think every day to find something worth writing about whether it was one or two lines, or one or two paragraphs. That worked for me. Now I’m back at it full swing. My other account is Kallioph if you’re insterested.
Have you seen Starry Night at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC? It is amazing…
